musings on Windows XP Media Center Edition RSS 2.0
# Tuesday, July 20, 2004

Today I placed the v1.0 of my Media Center reset tool 'MCE Reloaded' for Windows XP Media Center 2004 for download. I also changed the name to Media Center Configuration Reset.

Changes since Beta 2:
Change: UI Names consistent
Change: Console calls suppressed
Change: Debug messages turned off
Change: Prevents restricted user running the application
Change: Most aggressive setting becomes the default choice
Change: Command line switches changed (/tuner removed – as it is the default now)
Fixed: Media Center Edition does not have to be installed on drive C and can use a non standard Windows folder name.
New: User can graphically choose options previously only available though command line switches.
New: Reset offered after max and standard mode

Really these additions (bar one) where just little add-ons to what was already in place, making things a bit more user friendly. Glad to say I didn't actually have to modify much of the core code, other than the small matter of me being an idiot and hard coding the ehome folder location as c:\windows\ehome in earlier versions. It seemed to be behaving itself quite well while I was giving it a few test runs through, but if you spot any bugs hiding let me know.
